23 Jul Bankrupt Detroit – A City Without Insured Motorists
In a shocking article entitled “A City Where No One Has Car Insurance,” we learn that the bankrupt Motor City has another problem: no one wants to pay the outrageous premiums required to insure their vehicle inside the city limits.
What do they do instead? People register to vote in the outlying areas and suburbs, which allows them to use that address for their premium estimates. Detroit has one of the highest rates of uninsured motorists, due to varying reasons such as income, etc. So to pay for the people who go without, insurance companies charge a small mint for those who don’t to make up the difference.
Add this to the list of Detroit’s financial problems, and you’ll see why the Motor City has seen better days. Find cheaper insurance yourself if you live within the city limits at AutoCareInsurance.com.
