Consumer Demand for Trucks is on the Rise
Thursday, November 6th, 2008 10:48 amThanks to the recent reduction in gas prices, it seems more consumers are interested in purchasing trucks again. In fact, according to a press release released by AutoUSA, the company has seen a 17.6% increase in the number of consumers requesting information about trucks while also seeing a 11.9% drop in the number of car lead requests.
“Truck leads decreased when gas prices shot up during the 1st and 2nd Quarter of 2008,” said Phil DuPree, president of AutoUSA, in the press release. “Now that fuel costs are have [sic] declined, we’re seeing more truck inquiries.”
Although the company has seen an increase in truck leads, the overall truck lead volume is still down. Those vehicles included in this category include Large SUVs, Large Pickups, Small SUVs and Small Pickups. In fact, the year-to-date truck lead volume is still down by 26%, with Small SUVs and Large SUVs being the vehicles that have driven sales leads within the category down the most.
The decrease within the car category, on the other hand, has brought the leads for these vehicles back to where they were at the beginning of the year. Those vehicles included in this category included Luxury Car, Large Car and Middle Car. Small Car leads have gone up 20.6% when compared to January.
