Truck Attorney Claims to Have Noble Purpose

Attorney Steven M. Gursten has recently announced that he will be speaking at the Association Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America seminar.  The seminar is entitled “How to Win Big in the Tough Truck Accident Case” and Gursten will be speaking on “Maximizing Personal Injury Damages in Trucking Cases,” but it is not his speaking engagement that is most interesting about his press release.  Rather, it is the reason for this topic that is most interesting.

According to Gursten, lawyers have no problem with proving liability as well as with finding insurance.  Yet, they do have difficulty with obtaining personal injury damages, but this is an important component because it helps force businesses to look more closely at their safety policies.

“Lawyers are performing a critical and unacknowledged service in taking on these companies in an environment where state and federal agencies are not aggressively enforcing the rules,” said Gursten.  “Until the government can devote more resources to tackle the problem, lawyers bringing lawsuits to protect drivers will be the only reason dangerous trucking companies will choose to implement safety procedures.”

Gursten also states that winning big truck accident cases is essential in forcing trucking companies to abide by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations rather than putting profits over safety.
