Who is the White Van Man?
Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 7:24 pmIt can be quite entertaining sometimes to hear the terms that are used to describe certain types of drivers. In the states, for example, the “soccer mom” has come to be the common term used to describe women who drive their children back and forth to practices and lessons wit their minivans. Across the pond, however, there is another special type of driver: the white van man, or WVM for short.
Apparently, the white van man is a driver who is aggressive and thoughtless toward other drivers. As the name suggests, the name originated as the result of the driving habits of those who drove white-colored vans, but the term has been extended to apply to anyone who drives a van aggressively or at very high speeds.
According to a recent press release a bit of research was conducted in regards to the typical white van man and the researchers found that the average white van man is a 36-year-old married man with his own business. These men also tend to stay close to home when driving and consider themselves to be non-aggressive drivers.
Although the research was a bit tongue-in-cheek in nature, it is interesting to learn more about the people behind the terms. I wonder what the vital stats are on the typical soccer mom?
