Want to get 100 Miles per gallon? Cornell University does too.
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 11:23 pmIn a race to see who can hit the efficiency equivalent to 100 mpg, Cornell University’s AXP Team is working on an auto prototype that will be submitted to the $10 million Progressive Automobile X Prize (AXP) competition in 2010. Held in New York City in 2010, the contest races will include racetrack, urban and highway courses for those submitting their concept cars.
Cornell is one of the only universities to compete in the contest, along with other automakers (not including the big 3). Encouraging innovation through competition, the AXP contest offered by the X Prize Foundation requires entrants to also have a business plan with a tarket market, design and production plans, with a goal of producing 10,000 of their cars a year.
